Morrison arrival key to Bees survival
12:00pm Friday 13th April 2012 in Sport By Stuart Amos
key man: Brentford loan star Clinton Morrison
Brentford boss Uwe Rosler has pointed to former striker Gary Alexander’s departure as one of the reasons behind his side’s recent run of good form.
Alexander’s shock exit for League Two Crawley Town last month prompted a run of three straight defeats to Sheffield United, Leyton Orient and AFC Bournemouth.
And Rosler admitted the arrival of former Crystal Palace striker Clinton Morrison as his replacement, has been key to a dramatic turnaround in his side’s fortunes.
“Because of the way Gary left we were unable to replace him straight away. That hurt us and it knocked our confidence,” he said.
“Since we’ve replaced him, Clinton’s experience and contribution has been a vital part of a our recent run – vital.
“With a few goals Clayton Donaldson’s confidence has also grown and the atmosphere and belief in the squad is much better.”
l The Bees will play in a silver kit tomorrow to mark 25-years of the Brentford FC Community Sports Trust.
