Bees fans must be patient as Rosler seeks winning combination

Brentford club captain Kevin O’Connor has told fans to be patient as boss Uwe Rosler tries to find his magic winning formula.

A second-half Harry Forrester goal rescued a point at AFC Bournemouth on Tuesday having been frustrated by a 1-0 defeat at Leyton Orient.

Rosler is yet to hit on a settled midfield that has seen O’Connor, Forrester and Sam Saunders in and out of the starting line-up thus far.

It has not helped the cause of those struggling to find the net up front, but the club’s longest serving player insisted once they get things right it could light the blue touch paper for success.

“We have been playing well but we just haven’t been able to take our chances,” said O’Connor on Thursday.

“If we carry on as we are then I have no doubt we will get on a good run and once that happens I think this season could be a great one.

“Uwe is still trying to find his strongest formation to play home and away and that takes time.  I’ve just got to bide my time and take my chance when it comes.

“Clayton Donaldson has come in for some unfair stick about missing the odd chance, but he works so hard for the team and if he gets one he’ll get plenty.”

The Bees host Oldham Athletic tomorrow as Rosler’s men bid to make it a third home game in a row without defeat.

O’Connor added: “It has been a solid start to the season – not spectacular, but not disastrous.

“We have won and drawn our last two home games and we need to continue that run.

“This is a game we have to look to win if we want to be competing at the top of the table.”
