Hercules Wimbledon AC sprinter Rechmial Miller made a superb international debut when he raced for England in an U20 indoor international meeting against in Cardiff on Sunday.

Miller, 16, stormed to victory in his 60m race in 6.78 seconds to better his previous best time of 6.81 set when finishing fourth in the England championships in Sheffield the previous weekend.

More significantly, however, he smashed the meeting record of 6.80secs, set by Olympic sprinter Harry Akines-Aryeetey in 2011.

It crowned an impressive indoor season for Miller, during which he also won silver in the South of England U20 indoor 60m championship in January.

Hercules Wimbledon’s older generation were in fine form at the British Masters Indoor Championships at Lee Valley last weekend, lifting five titles.

Anna Garnier won double gold taking the women’s over-60 1,500m and 3,000m titles in club record times of five minutes 30.58 seconds and 11:44.59.

Pole vaulter Alison Murray won the over-45 category with a club record of 3.11m, Pete Giles took the men’s over-70 1,500m in 5:20.08 and Dominic Bokor-Ingram won the men’s over-45 400m title in 54:66.

Giles completed a successful weekend by taking the British Masters men’s over-70 10 miles road running title at Sidcup on Sunday in a club record time of 1:10:57.

Elsewhere, Hercules Wimbledon’s Dimos Evangelidis headed home a 113-strong field to win the Ellis Trophy inter-club 3.8 miles cross-country race in warm sunshine in Richmond Park on Saturday in 21:07 in a print finish in which the second runner clocked the same time.

Barnaby Woods was top U20 finisher taking sixth place in 21:16 with Phil Glynn seventh in 22:13, and Ben Tatters top U15 finisher taking 10th place in 22:38.

Hercules Wimbledon’s Cassian Hyde was in action for Surrey in the UK Inter-Counties cross-country championships in Cofton Park, Birmingham, on Saturday.

He helped the U20 team to the bronze medals finishing 85th out of the 186 runners in his race.
