Walton Athletics Club’s women provided the platform for the club’s first Southern League Division One match win of the season on Saturday.
Eight A string event wins – with only one coming from the men – saw Walton collect 195.5 match points to pip Thames Valley Harriers by 18 points at Stompond Lane and move up to seventh in the league table.
Teenager Sophie Mace, 16, led the way with comfortable victories in the shot (11.79 metres), discus (43.72m) and hammer (45.83m), while Fiona De Mauny dominated with middle distances with wins in the 800m and 1,500m.
Jo Locker, 39, raced home to the 3,000m win, with 38-year-old Helen Channon collecting maximum points in the long jump with a leap of 5.32m.
Veteran pole vaulter Greg Conlon (4.15m) was the only A string winner for the men.
Walton head to Brighton next on June 20.
