Ranelagh Harriers could not take advantage of lead athlete Ralph Street's efforts as the club's senior men's team finished seventh at the Surrey Road Relay Championships on Saturday.

The 25-year-old clocked 14 minutes nine seconds - the second fastest time of the day - in the opening leg of the race to give his team a 29 second advantage at the first change over.

But that was as good as it got for the Richmond-based club as they slipped back the rankings to finish well adrift of champions South London Harriers for whom Tom Holden and Rob Drake starred.

Belgrave Harrier Phil Wicks set the fastest time of the day in Wimbledon with his fourth leg effort of 13:29, but his team finished 19th.

Hercules Wimbledon were second with Thames Hare & Hounds finishing third.

South London Harriers' women made it a double win for the club as they claimed the senior women's title in finishing 30 seconds ahead of second placed Herne Hill Harriers.

Epsom & Ewell Harriers were a creditable fourth anbd Hercules Wimbledon's women came fifth.
