Kingston & Polytechnic Harrier Phoebe Law showed the gulf in class between herself, her team-mates and the rest of the field with a comfortable win in the Surrey Ladies Cross Country League on Saturday.

The 18-year-old junior Great Britain international clocked 24 minutes 14 seconds to finish first overall by a whopping 45 seconds.

But her efforts were only enough to land her team a sixth place finish in the Division Two standings.

Kingston’s Scott Evans won the Division Three men’s match on Epsom Downs in a time of 29:04, with Neil Wellard [29:57] and James Robertson [30:03] finishing third and fourth respectively as Harriers claimed the match win.

Walton Athletics Club’s Phil Bearman made made the early running in the Surrey Men’s League Division Two match on Esher common on Saturday, but faded to finish 74th.

Clubmates Duncan Woolmer and Matt Reed were second and fourth respectively – behind winner Dom Nolan of Croydon Harriers – as Walton finished fourth in the team standings.
