Junior Team GB international Phoebe Law finished second at the South of England Cross Country Championships on Parliament Hill on Saturday.

The 19-year-old, second at the Great Edinburgh Cross Country International in January, clocked 22 minutes 33 seconds to finish only seven seconds adrift of U20 women’s race winner Gemma Holloway.

Former Surbiton High School student Law has raced sparingly this winter after going all out to qualify for the World Junior Cross Country Championship last year.

She won the Lotto Cross Cup in Belgium before Christmas, but has only raced twice since.

Kingston’s Scott Evans finished in 53:40 to claim 37th in the senior men’s race, which attracted a field of 1,000 athletes, and Olly Wilson (12:47) was 32nd in a field of more than 260 in the U13 boys’ race.

Elsewhere, Wycombe Phoenix Harriers' Kieran Gilfedder was the first finisher in Saturday's Bushy Park parkrun, clocking 17:14 in the process.

Kingston & Polytechnic Harrier Rebecca Keddie (21:08) set a new personal best to be the first woman home.
