Mo Farah has turned his attentions to conquering the world after retaining his 3000m crown at the European Indoor Championships in Paris.

All eyes were on the 27-year-old following his double gold at last year’s European Championships in Barcelona and he didn’t disappoint.

The Twickenham runner was pushed all the way by Azerbaijan’s Hayle Ibrahimov but topped the podium in 7:53.00 minutes.

Farah timed his race to perfection, sprinting to the line to pip Ibrahimov to the title by less than half a second and he insists a repeat performance in South Korea at the World Championships will suit him down to the ground.

“It is nice to compete on the European circuit but you always want to better yourself,” said Farah.

“I want to win as many medals as a can and hopefully I can go to that next level.

“I want to do well at the World Championships in Daegu and I believe I can find that second or half a second to get a medal.

“I believe I am on the right track and if I stay focused and keep doing what I am doing then it could all work out for me.”

Farah has come a long way since winning his first European Indoor title in Turin two years ago, going on to establish himself as one of Great Britain’s best medal hopes for London 2012.

And after fending off Ibrahimov in France Farah believes the steps he has made on the track were there for all to see.

“It is annoying when someone is on your shoulder all the time which Hayle was but I have the experience to deal with it.

“I made sure that he was not going to pass me on the inside and that he would have to go on the home straight and I had the experience to make sure I had something left.”
