England learning disabilities cricket team head coach Derek Morgan insists he will have no worries putting Epsom's Tayler Young in at crucial moments Down Under.

Morgan takes his team to the other side of the world for the INAS International Cricket Series against Austarlia.

The series consists of four one-day internationals and two T20s.

The last time the two countries met was four years ago, but ahead of the first game on March 17 Morgan can rest safe in the knowledge that Young has been there and done it all before, having been part of that 2011 team.

And Morgan can also rest easy when his side’s back is against the wall with 19-year-old Young, who has dyslexia and studies at Nescot College, having already proven he will come up big when his country comes calling.

He said: “Since 2011 he has matured and developed into one of our standout bowlers and is completely dependable and a reliable performer.

“He’s always willing to take on the real challenges of bowling in power plays under intense pressure and he thrives on that challenge.

“He’s been a real standout with the ball for us over the past 12 months and he’s an incredible well-liked young man who is an enjoyable character, and is willing to be the butt of several jokes and takes it with great heart.”

And despite four years having passed since England last tested themselves against their Aussie rivals, Morgan is once again dreaming big with Young’s help.

“They are a fantastic group and it’s just about managing them well,” he added. “The added incentive of it being a traditional rivalry when we go out there in their environment is a fabulous challenge for me as a coach and for the players.

“I’m so excited by it and I think the players are feeling the same emotions and are really up for it.

“We are really confident that we are doing all we can do for our players and giving them the platform to go and play.

“If we do that then we will be very competitive and can make a real impact over there because I think this is the best prepared LD squad we have ever had in place.”
