Twickenham Cricket Club officials held crisis talks this week after the club suffered a third successive miserable weekend of league cricket.

The club’s five Saturday teams have secured only one league win between them in 15 attempts so far this term leaving the top three teams bottom of their respective Middlesex County League divisions.

Close: Ex-Twickenham star Rashid Mullahzadah is nearly run out on his return to Twickenham Green with Southgate

Skipper Carlos Nunes’ men were on the end of an 85-run Duckworth Lewis Premier Division defeat to Southgate – for whom former Ts players Fawad and Rashid Mullahzadah played – having seen his bowlers leak 276 runs in the first innings.

Up and away: Southgate Rashid Mullahzadah takes a liking to former team-mate Eugene Berger's bowling

Only Daniel Lezar (57) and Don Manuwelge (43) made progress with the bat as the hosts were all out for 157.

Ben Williams’ 113 helped Teddington recover from 34 for four – chasing North Middlesex’s 241 for six – to secure a one wicket win on the road and bounce back from last week’s high-scoring defeat to Ealing in style.

Hard going: Eugene Berger (1-68) saw his bowling take some treatment at the hands of the Southgate batsmen

By contrast, Ben Compton’s 108 was not enough for Richmond as they fell 34-runs short of Ealing’s 265 for seven – built on Mylo Wilkin (71) and Rob White’s (124) 202 second wicket partnership – to leave the hosts still sitting at the top of the table.

Happy to be back: Ex-Twickenham seamer Fawad Mullahzadah was in the Southgate squad on the Green on Saturday

In Division Two, Barnes suffered their first defeat of the campaign as they lost by 164 runs at home to Enfield after the visitors posted 309 for nine off 45 overs.

Fixtures: Richmond v North Middlesex, Stanmore v Twickenham, Barnes v Finchley, Teddington v Hampstead.
