Twickenham finally made it a perfect winning weekend in the Middlesex County League Premier Division for Richmond’s cricketers on Saturday – in the nick of time.

Skipper Carlos Nunes led from the front as his unbeaten 71, coupled with Don Manuwelge (60) and Marc Lezar’s (98) 106-run third wicket partnership, helped the Ts to a first league success after four previously unsuccessful attempts.

The trio’s efforts secured a thrilling last over four-wicket win over Shepherds Bush on the Green as they chased down the visitors’ 263 for seven to set them up nicely for the visit of league leaders Ealing tomorrow.

All-rounder Dan Lezar celebrated the triumph with 44 in Kent second string’s first innings against Essex in the second XI County Championship on Wednesday.

A Ryan Higgins inspired Richmond moved to within a point of of the summit as they won by 10 wickets at Hampstead.

Higgins claimed 5-24 with the ball to reduce the hosts to 72 all out, before leading skipper Alex Griffiths’ men home with an unbeaten 41.

Teddington’s Keightley brothers took seven Eastcote wickets between them to set up a three-wicket win on the road to keep in touch with the title race.

Skipper James Keightley claimed 3-35 before younger sibling David took 4-41 as the hosts were dismissed for 182.

The captain then set the tone with 44 at the top of the order as middle order contributions from Ben Williams, James Wade and Tom Elliott get the 2014 champions over the line.
