Ks Pattison short of his top form despite goals
6:00pm Thursday 25th October 2012 in Football By Stuart Amos
Kingstonian midfielder Matt Pattison may have six goals to his name this term, but boss Alan Dowson has insisted he is nowhere near his best, writes Stuart Amos.
The 28-year-old, who has made 13 appearances this season, scored the opener in Saturday’s 2-1 win over Carshalton Athletic that moved Ks up to second in the Ryman Premier League table.
But Dowson insisted he wanted more from the former Walton & Hersham
midfielder.
“He is scoring goals, but funnily enough he has not been playing great this season,” said the manager.
“He scored a worldy against Lowestoft and I keep playing him and putting him on because he keeps doing bits of magic that win us games.”
Midfielder Simon Huckle netted the weekend winner and Dowson admitted it was just as well.
“Hucks made a mistake for their goal. But it was a good response,” he added.
“I’ve had him a long time and have a lot of time for him. He’s playing well and that’s why he’s in the side.”
Dowson’s men entertain Evo-Stick League Southern Division side Burnham in the FA Trophy on Sunday and the former Walton & Hersham boss will welcome some famililar faces to Kingsmeadow.
“Their manager Martin Stone was my first boss when I was playing Walton & Hersham and I was his captain,” added the Ks chief.
“He has got them going well and it will nice to catch up with him.”
