Brentford frustrated fallen Premier League giants Wolverhampton Wanderers as they held the hosts to a 0-0 draw in the Midlands.

It ended a run of six straight wins for the Bees, but a fifth consecutive clean sheet was thoroughly deserved and left Bees boss Uwe Rosler the happier of the two managers.

"I'm very proud of my players," said the manager.

"Wolves had big momentum after the first 15 minutes, but we kept pressurising them and we created the better chances in the first half.

"We were more compact in the second half. They were running out of ideas at the end and we had one or two good chances to win it.

"We were absolutely excellent and it was a fair point. We earned it.

"I was very happy with the individual performances and the whole team performance."

Both sides had chances to take the lead in an entertaining  first half that saw Wolves enjoy the lion's share of possession.

Leigh Griffiths saw a rasping drive cannon off the inside of the post, before forcing a smart save from David Button minutes later.

The two efforts sandwiched a glorious opportunity for Adam Forshaw to break the deadlock, but he volleyed over Kadeem Harris's precise cross to the far post.

With five minutes of the half remaining, Clayton Donaldson, who had earlier beaten Wolves keeper Carl Ikeme only to see the ball trickle wide, burst into the area and saw his shot from a tight angle blocked by Ikeme.

And there was time for Griffiths - a constant threat all day - to fire wide from the edge of the box as it remained scoreless at the break.

Rosler tightened things up in the second half, packing the midfield to counter the threat of the marauding Bakary Sako.

But the game was no less entertaining as both teams continued to trade blows.

Forshaw fired over from the edge of the area on the hour, with Kevin Doyle and Griffiths going close at the other end - the latter almost profiting from  a Harlee Dean slip.

Bees substitute Will Grigg and Alan McCormack both went close in the final 10 minutes as Wolves tired, but it finished all square.
