Brentford boss Mark Warburton might want 15 points to secure promotion, but Alan Judge insists the squad are after more than that.

The Bees saw their title hopes suffer a blow with a 3-0 defeat at Rotherham United on Tuesday, but Leyton Orient’s draw with Oldham Athletic ensured there remained a three-point cushion between them and their third-placed east London rivals.

The last time Brentford crashed 3-0 – against league leaders Wolverhampton Wanderers – they recovered to win four and draw one of their next five matches.

And Judge, who conceded the penalty for the Millers’ opening goal in midweek, knows a repeat performance of the next 10 days – starting at Oldham Athletic tomorrow – is required.

“We know we are better than that,” said the 25-year-old Blackburn Rovers loanee at the New York stadium.

“Take nothing away from them they were better than us, but we have to come back like we did against Wolves.

“We want to win the league, that is our target.

“One or two players have won leagues before and that chance does not come around too often.

“I do not want to miss the chance of putting a trophy in the cabinet.”

Boss Warburton, who recalled Toumani Diagouraga from his loan spell at League Two Portsmouth this week, echoed his midfielder’s thought with Tuesday’s trip to Sheffield United and next Saturday’s visit of Notts County to come.

“They are a professional group of players. They are towards the top of the league and there is a lot of quality in that group too,” he said.

“Their professional pride will have been hurt by that and I have no doubt they will come back strong.

“Our only focus now is Oldham. We need to get to 94 or 95 points and to do that we need five wins.

“They are all important games now.”
