Corinthian Casuals steal points to stand on brink of Ryman safety
Corinthian Casuals boss Matt Howard reckons he might have been under house arrest on Tuesday night after his side burgled the points that could land Ryman Division One South safety.
Eillis Wilson-Joseph and Jamie Byatt – with his seconnd of the game – struck in the final 10 minutes to give Howard’s side a 3-1 win at Walton Casuals on Tuesday to move five points clear of the relegation zone.
Corinthians are one of the division’s form teams having secured 29 points from their past 16 games, with the visit of champions Peacehaven
& Telscombe and a trip to Burgess Hill Town to come over Easter.
And Howard wants that form to continue to settle his side’s league future sooner rather than later.
“I had the police round my house on Tuesday night questioning me for burglary after that one,” he joked.
“We got absolutely battered in the second half, but at the end of the day goals win matches.
“We are not safe yet, but we have given ourselves a very good chance.
“When I took over, we were dead and buried, but now I think we are second or third in the form table.
“Now, we need to finish the job this weekend.”
