Tony Pulis has downplayed suggestions he is in a position of strength going into crucial meetings with the club’s owners after keeping the SE25 side up.

The Welshman has already held one set of talks with co-chairman Steve Parish this week on what direction the Eagles should take as they look to establish themselves as a regular fixture in the Premier League.

More meetings are set to take place over the summer, including one this week with other members of the Palace hierarchy.

But even though Pulis’ stock is as high as ever after guiding the Eagles to a remarkable Great Escape, the manager doesn’t believe this gives him any extra negotiating muscle.

“I don’t think it is a position of power,” he explained after today’s 2-2 draw at Fulham.

“I’m not after power, there are just certain things that have to go on to make clubs successful.

“I had a good chat with Steve Parish last Thursday.

“We will meet again this week and just go through things.

“That’s the way to do things.

“Hopefully, fingers crossed, we will both get where we want to get.”

Pulis added: “He came down to Bournemouth and we had a little bit of lunch and all afternoon together.

“He was fine, he was smashing.

“We discussed things and there are three other members of the board that Steve talks to as well.

“We are all going out one day next week to open discussions.”
