New Hampton & Richmond Borough boss Alan Dowson has revealed he is in talks with his former Kingstonian backroom team to join him at the Beveree.

The 44-year-old was back in the Ryman Premier League dugout on Monday night as the Beavers managed to grab a draw 2-2 draw at Hendon thanks to an 85th minute Karle Carder equaliser after Jesse Kewley Graham had opened the scoring in the first minute.

Sky Sports commentator Martin Tyler and prolific former non-League striker Gary Abbott helped mastermind a second-place finish for Ks last term and Dowson wants the pair to help him inspire the same at Hampton.

"We missed out in the play-offs at Kingstonian, but we had a fantastic season last year to finish second," he said.

"Gary [Abbott] and Martin [Tyler] played big parts in making that happen.

"Martin was with me on Monday night and I'm talking to Gary in the next 24 hours.

"I'd love to get them both involved with this football club, but we shall see."

Dowson is under no illusions where his problems lie and is already in talks with four players over moves to Station Road - signatures he hopes to have tied up sooner rather than later.

"When you are scoring four goals at home and still losing and scoring twice away from home and not winning, it does not take a rocket scientist to see where the problem is," he added.

"Charlie Moone and Kieran Murphy were my best two players by a milllion miles on Monday and that says it all.

"The lads showed tremendous attitude and fight. I could not fault them on that.

"But if we are going to keep defending like that we'll just get done again at the weekend.

"I've been on the phone already to get three or four new players in because it is obvious we are not good enough at the moment."
