Neil Warnock reckons Palace defender Martin Kelly wouldn’t look out of place in the England team.
The summer signing from Liverpool has improved game by game since moving to Selhurst Park and underlined his versatility by stepping into central defence when Scott Dann suffered an early injury in the Eagles’ last game at Hull.
That came before the international break, but his club boss this morning suggested Kelly could consider himself unlucky not to have received a call up from Three Lions boss Roy Hodgson.
“I think Martin Kelly is back to form now,” the Crystal Palace manager explained.
“I don’t see many better right-backs in the country than Martin Kelly.
“When you look at the international scene I think Martin was good enough to get in the (England) team last week when you look at the people who are playing right-back.
“He fitted in as if he had been there all the time at right-side centre half and it is great to have players like that.
“Wherever I play him I think he will have a decent game.”
