Paul Doswell is expecting a tough battle when he takes his United side to Hereford United in the FA Trophy on Saturday.

And he will have to pull a result out of the bag without striker Jessy Reindorf, who has had his contract cancelled by mutual consent so he can return home to France. Doswell has also released Kane Haysman to Eastbourne Borough.

He does welcome back from suspension Micky Spillane and Jack Evans, while Billy Medlock is cup-tied.

Hereford, known as the Bull, were demoted to the Evo-Stik Southern League Premier Division from the Conference in June due to financial irregularities, and fans have been boycotting games until debts – believed to be around £1.3m – are repaid.

Doswell said: “We’ve had Hereford watched and they have players who are playing way below their level.

“My scout said they are better than Burgess Hill Town, so we know we’re in for a tough fight.

“They have a lot of young players from Cardiff City, so there is quality there.”

Doswell may be without Reindorf permanently, and Medlock just for one game, but he is drooling over new striker Jamie White.

He said: “Jamie is a goalscorer. I had to be patient to get him, but I am delighted that he’s joined us.

“He’s a great lad too, he’s walked away from Bristol Rovers without asking for a penny from them, and he’s settling in well.

“We’re getting to the point where I have a team of players I would happily take into the Conference Premier.”
