Ks forward Jake Kempton quit the club to join Conference South strugglers Staines Town, but boss Tommy Williams has insisted it will not de-rail his side’s play-off surge.

The former Wolverhampton Wanderers youngster scored two goals in 10 appearances for Ks – including the only goal in a 1-0 win over Tonbridge Angels earlier this month – and played his last the game in the hoops in Saturday’s 3-0 triumph at Bury Town.

Williams’ side then triumphed 1-0 at East Thurrock United on Tuesday to make it three wins in a row for the first time this season for the Kingsmeadow outfit.

Kempton, who knows Swans boss Nicky Forster well, has swapped promotion push for a relegation scrap and while wishes him well he will waste no time in lining up a replacement.

“Jake and his agent know Nicky [Forster] really well and they all decided it would be good for his career to move there,” said the Ks chief.

“We obviously wish him all the best with it.

“We have still got Elvis Hammond, Jesse Darko and Pelayo Pico Gomez to play in a forward role, but Pelayo is having to play in midfield.

“We were also without Steve Butterworth, Alan Inns and Chris Henry due to injury at East Thurrock.

“And Luke Pigden has decided to take a break from football for the foreseeable future for personal reasons.

“So we need to bring one or two people in to bolster the squad.”

Ks travel to Hendon on Saturday high on confidence.

“We’ve had three cleansheets as well as three wins and we know what we are trying to build. It will be tough to keep it up,” added Williams
