Hampton & Richmond Borough captain Kieran Murphy has assured Beavers fans current crop of Beveree players are too good to go down.

Boss Alan Dowson’s side crashed 3-1 at Leatherhead on Saturday to stand only seven points and two places above the Ryman Premier League drop zone.

Hampton have lost all three league matches since a 1-0 triumph over play-off chasing Dulwich Hamlet.

The Beavers host Bognor Regis Town tomorrow and then league leaders Maidstone United on Tuesday before travelling to fellow strugglers VCD Athletic next weekend.

Murphy believes the squad is good enough to get back to winning ways before the crunch clash with their relegation rivals.

And if they don’t he is certain they will still get the points they need for survival.

“We’ve not got to think about what the rest of the league are doing,” he said.

“We have to concentrate on what we are doing and everything else will take care of itself.

“The VCD game is going to be a big one, but I’m confident we can get something out of the games before that.

“We have shown we are more than good enough to mix it with the teams at the top of the table, we have to do better against the teams around us.”

He added: “There are no easy games in this league.

“We’ve had players get injured or leave, so once we get a settled side I think we can get the wins we need.

“This squad of players is good enough to stay up.”
