Teenage winger Sullay Kaikai described the Anfield experience as “crazy” after Crystal Palace’s 3-1 win over Liverpool on Saturday.

The 19-year-old travelled with the squad at the weekend and praised Palace’s performance as they gate-crashed Steven Gerrard’s Anfield farewell.

Kaikai scored on debut in the third round of the Capital One Cup against Newcastle in September but has spent most of the season on loan at Cambridge United in League Two after an earlier spell with Crawley Town in 2013-14.

The youngster is back in south London now, though, and enjoying the experience of being with the first team.

After the 3-1 win on Saturday, he said: “It was a great experience to be around it.

“It was fantastic for me and the atmosphere at Anfield was crazy.

“I really enjoyed it. It was a great performance from us and we played really well.

“I thought we attacked well, defended well, and in the second half we showed our qualities.”

Goals from Jason Puncheon, Wilfried Zaha and Glenn Murray stunned Anfield after Adam Lallana gave the home side the lead in the first half.

It gave Palace a seventh win on the road this season compared to just five victories at Selhurst Park, but Kaikai was uncertain why the Eagles were better on their travels.

“It was a well deserved win,” he said.

“I'm not too sure why we have been better away than at Selhurst but it was a great result for the team.”
