Former England C international Christian Jolley will team up with the man that gave him his chance in football when he turns out for Hampton & Richmond Borough next term.

The AFC Wimbledon hero started his career under Dowson at Kingstonian in 2009 before moving on for a successful spell at the Dons where he helped boss Terry Brown's men into the Football League.

Spells at Newport County - where he was named in the National League Premier team of the year in 2013 - Forest Green Rovers, Grimsby Town and Margate followed before switching to the Beveree this week.

And Dowson, who unearthed 28-year-old's potential in the first place, was naturally delighted to land his man.

"There are some players that you always want to sign because they are quality and Christian is that," said Dowson.

"I could see he was good when he stood out in that 2009 trial and his record since proves it."

"In addition to playing up front, he can also play wide so he's going to bring some more options up front."

Unlikely: The arrival of Aaron Howe means it is unlikely former Brentford loanee Mark Smith will be returning to the Beveree

Dowson also strengthened his hand at the back with the capture of former Woking, Sutton United and Basingstoke Town goalkeeper Aaron Howe.

Howe's arrival looks to have ended hope of persuading ex-Brentford keeper Mark Smith on a permanent basis after successful loan spells at the club.
