BRentford head coach Dean Smith has stressed midfielder Josh McEachran will be fit for the forthcoming Championship campaign, despite suffering a groin injury this week.

The 23-year-old, who has had his injury problems in the past, has impressed during his first full pre-season at the club, but limped out of Tuesday's 1-1 draw at Wycombe Wanderers pn Tuesday.

But Smith has told his players to report any sign of a problem as he tries to get his squad through to the start of the season without any serious injury setbacks.

And he insisted McEachran's withdrawal was not a long term issue.

"He felt his groin slightly and he felt he could have carried on, but my biggest things is to get people through pre-season injury free," said the coach.

"I have stressed to the players that if they feel anything to let us know, so Josh coming off was more a precaution than anything else and he'll be fine."
