Ks' keeper Tolfrey fears for rival defences
6:00am Saturday 25th August 2012 in Football By Tim Ashton
Goalkeeper Rob Tolfrey says Kingstonian’s super-fast attacking style will have their Blue Square South rivals running scared.
Tolfrey hailed the attacking front line of Dean Lodge, Andre McCollin and Wade Small, as a real handful after the trio left Harrow Borough trailing in their wake on Monday.
“Our pace will scare opponents. Some defenders will not be able to cope,” said the 25-year-old.
“They work very well together, even from where I am at the other end of the pitch, I can see how they gave Harrow a torrid time.
“But it is not just about pure pace. It is the general all-round speed of movement, the balls into the channels and taking free kicks quickly. I can see teams really struggling to cope."
Tolfrey, who has made 129 appearances for Ks since joining from Horsham in 2009 following spells with Crawley Town and Whyteleafe, was impressed by what he has seen from the squad so far.
“Creating the chances and the goals we score, come from the whole team being confident," he said.
“The confidence starts from the back. If you’re comfortable on the ball you can start to trust players. You don’t mind giving them the ball.
“We’re looking good, keeping hold of the ball and playing a lot of football in the opponent’s half.”
Ks host Margate on Saturday before a bank holiday trip to Concord Rangers and Tolfrey insisted the busy schedule is what it is all about.
“Pre-season has been good, but this is what we live for – the league games and the three points,” he said.
