A man who left his false teeth at an AFC Wimbledon match has thanked fellow fans for helping to find his gnashers.

George, who asked us not to print his surname to avoid teasing, said the dentures must have slipped out of his pocket before kick-off at Saturday’s game against Exeter.

He denied internet speculation the false teeth had fallen out while he was eating a pre-match pie and said he did not wear them often, despite complaints from his girlfriend.

Fans and others, including BBC presenter Jacqui Oatley, rallied on Twitter yesterday to find out who they belonged to, using the hashtag #bringthechompshome.

George, 66, who lives in Carshalton, said this afternoon: “Thank you to everybody. I was chomping at the bit.

“It’s all smiles again. I’ve been so embarrassed about it.

“I was going to go to the Hartlepool match tonight and pick them up.”

The lifelong Wimbledon fan, who started going to games with his uncle aged six when he lived in Southfields, said: “I’m glad I’ve been a source of a bit of amusement.

"I think it is hilarious what some people have been saying like flossed and found."

Turning his thoughts to tonight's game against Hartlepool, he also hoped new loan signing Danny Hylton would bring a bit of bite to the forward line.

Don't worry George, by next week Tom Brake M.P. will jump on the bus and start a campaign for better fitting dentures and possibly a new centre forward for AFC. You know the Lib-bems and their promises. Yeah right.
