AFC Wimbledon boss Neal Ardley bemoaned his cup luck this week after facing another potential trip on the road in the next round of the FA Cup.

There is the small matter of getting past York City in Tuesday night’s replay following last weekend’s 1-1 at Bootham Crescent.

However, should the Dons overcome that hurdle, they then travel to League Two leaders Wycombe Wanders in the second round.

Since Ardley became boss, the Dons have been drawn away from home in eight of 10 ties – including three trips to franchise club MK Dons.

Only last season’s FA Cup defeat to Coventry City and this season penalty win over Southend United in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy have been staged at the CRRS since October 2012.

Ardley said: “It’s not a draw you want.

“I think I must have trodden on a black cat at some point because I think I’ve only been drawn at home in a cup competition twice since I have been here.

“And we know how good Wycombe are, they turned us over a couple of weeks ago and they are top of the table for a reason.

“However, we do need to get past York first.”

Should the Dons get past York, the second round clash will kick off at 2pm on Sunday, December 7.

The Dons Johnstone’s Paint Trophy campaign ended at the area quarter final stage in a 2-1 defeat at League One leaders Bristol City on Tuesday night.

Ardley said: “I’m absolutely gutted because I wanted to get through to the next round. I hate losing, but I’m proud of the performance.

“We have to make sure though that the next few weeks are positive in terms of results.”
