AFC Wimbledon's January rebuild continued last night as they signed Bognor Regis Town's prolific striker Jason Prior.

The 23-year-old signed a two-and-half year deal after the Dons fended off competition from a number of Football League clubs for his signature.

Prior scored 38 goals for Bognor last season and had 28 for them already this and Dons manager Terry Brown was delighted with the coup.

"Having watched Jason on four different occasions, when he scored in every game, I can assure you we have brought a prolific goalscorer into the club," he said.

"Any doubts about the difference in levels were dispelled when I travelled up to Newcastle to see Jason and Billy Knott, an excursion I came back from determined to sign two very talented players.

"I am pleased to say we have now secured the second one of our targets.

"Jason is very powerful in the air, a good hold up player and the most important box he ticked was his ability to take chances in and around the box as his record of nearly 100 goals in about 120 games shows."

"I am really pleased that he chose us ahead of other Football League clubs and, barring injury, he will go straight into the squad on Saturday."

As part of the deal, Wimbledon will take their first team to Bognor for a pre-season friendly in the summer.

Prior joins Callum McNaughton and Byron Harrison in signing permanently for the Dons this month, while George Moncur, Billy Knott and Jason Euell all joined on loan.
