Brentford defender Alan McCormack reckons the work ethic behind Saturday's 0-0 draw at Wolverhampton Wanderers can take the Bees to the Championship.

The 29-year-old had a very large hand in his side's fifth consecutive cleansheet that extended their unbeaten run to seven matches and lifted the Bees to fourth in the League One table.

McCormack came close to sending the 2,000-strong travelling support home even happier only to see his late drive well saved by Wolves keeper Carl Ikeme.

It was a disciplined performance from boss Uwe Rosler's men, which came as no surprise to the former Swindon Town man.

"Considering the opposition, you could say it was the perfect away performance," said McCormack.

"We created chances. We were not just hanging on. We were taking the game to them.

"We know we can do that to any team not only in this division, but the division above too.

"We work very hard in the week on our discipline, on our shape, on our passing and on our closing down defensively. On every aspect of the game, we do a lot of detailed work.

"It is proven that if you don't do that you do not get anywhere in football. If you do work very hard you can see - as with the result at Wolves - that it is going to take you a long, long way."
