Brentford midfielder Alan Judge has revealed returning to Griffin Park was the first thing on his mind after securing promotion to the Championship.

The 25-year-old penned a three-year deal for an undisclosed fee to turn his loan switch from Blackburn Rovers into a permanent move.

The Irishman scored seven goals in 22 appearances for the Bees last term, playing a significant role in their promotion surge, including netting the winner against Preston North End that ensured a top two finish for boss Mark Warburton’s men.

“As soon as my loan spell ended the first thing I started to think about was whether I could come back,” he told the club website.

“I am delighted to have signed here and to have come back to Brentford.

“The loan spell here was great for me.

“Obviously what happened on the pitch was fantastic and even though I was the lucky one to get the goal to get promotion I think we were always going to achieve it.”

Judge is Warburton’s first signing of the summer and the Griffin Park chief expects more to come from the former Republic of Ireland U21 international.

“I have no doubts that Alan will make a significant impact in the Championship and I am very much looking forward to watching him continue his development with the club in the months ahead,” said the manager.
