Brentford new boy Alex Pritchard has admitted playing against the Bees last term influenced his decision to sign a season long loan deal at Griffin Park last week.

The 21-year-old attacking midfielder moved to west London from Tottenham Hotspur having starred for Swindon Town in League One last season.

And London-based Pritchard, who featured for the Robins in two games against Brentford last term, is hoping his attacking style can fit the bill with his new club.

"I enjoyed watching Brentford last year and playing against them," he told Bees Player last week.

"I thought it would be a good move to play some football in the Championship against some great clubs.

"They play good football and it is what I wanted to do.

"I like to get on the ball and make things happen, get some assists and score a few goals.

"I've got to get the shirt first. I've got to work hard and impress in pre-season."

The Bees beat Boreham Wood 3-1 in their opening pre-season friendly last week thanks to goals via a Kevin O'Connor penalty, a Josh Hill own goal and a rare Jake Bidwell strike.

They also allowed Will Grigg to join Milton Keynes Dons on a season long loan deal as boss Mark Warburton stepped up efforts to capture the services of Rochdale striker Scott Hogan.

"Hopefully, those stories [linking us to Scott Hogan] continue," said the manager.

"We are making good progress on the striker front. We are hoping to bring in one or two more players in to the squad and then we are good to go."
