Brentford boss Mark Warburton reckons his men remain well on track for the start of the new Championship campaign despite a 4-0 friendly defeay to CA Osasuna on Tuesday.

A youthful Bees had held the Spanish side 0-0 at half time, but four second half goals ended any hopes of a repeat of Saturday's 3-2 win over OGC Nice.

Montell Moore again impressed for the Bees as did fellow youngstesr Nico Yennaris, Raphael Calvet and 19-year-old trialist Daniel O'Shaughnessy.

There were extensive workouts for Alan McCormack, Kevin O'Connor, Toumani Diagouraga and Stuart Dallas, while keeper Richard Lee also got a good spell between the sticks.

And Warburton admitted putting miles in the players' legs was the main aim of the exercise.

"They are a very good team - I think they'll be one of the best we'll see at Griffin Park this season," he told Bees Player.

"But this was about getting more playes 90 minutes and making sure we use our fourth warm-up game to prepare for Saturday, which will in turn prepare us for August 9.

"That was a young side out there. Probably one of the youngest in the club's history. Montell looked comfortable on the ball. To go from the development squad to that level must have been a real shock.

"We're on track. We were disappointed with aspects of the second half in terms of us giving the ball away too cheaply, but there were many, many benefits."

Bees defender Jake Bidwell has put pen to paper on a new three-year contract at the Griffin Park, while Saturday's visit of Crystal Palace has been declared all-ticket.
