Brentford boss Mark Warburton may be playing down his side's Championship chances, but even he admits his men could be in the promotion race come the end of the season.

Goals from Alan Judge, Stuart Dallas, Andre Gray and Jota gave the Bees a 4-0 triumph over Wolverhampton Wanderers to avange last season's 3-0 home defeat to the same opposition.

It was Brentford's fifth successive triumph and puts Warburton firmly in the race for the manager of the month award with his side finishing November with a perfect winning record.

But while the manager believes his men have hit an enviable level of performance, he admits maintaining that form will not be easy.

"We are in the Championship playing against big, big teams," he said.

"I heard some murmurs after 10 or 12 minutes saying for us to liven up, but these are tough games.

"We need to apply ourselves and recognise the level we are playing at because these are not easy games."

He added: "The self-belief over the first five or 10 games, was very important for us to build. Now we have got that, we need to maintain that level of consistency.

"We have to to demand that from ourselves every day.

"If we do that and maintain that level of consistency and recognise what we do well, we can - hopefully - be in a good place come the end of the season.

"We are third in the Championship and a point off the top, but there is a long way to go."
