Crystal Palace starlet Jonathan Williams has admitted that he is attracting interest from Swansea City over a potential transfer.

The Welshman, who was shipped out on loan to Ipswich Town last season, has stated his desire to play first team football, but admits he may have to leave the Eagles in order to fulfil his wish.

He said: “I spoke to my agent who says [Swansea] were interested.

“I need to play football, preferably at Palace, but if not I'd have to consider playing elsewhere.”

Williams, nicknamed ‘Joniesta’, came through Palace’s academy system making his debut against Coventry City in 2011 quickly becoming a fans’ favourite.

The 20-year-old expects to hear more in the coming weeks but admits that it would be difficult to leave the club he joined at the age of eight.

“I haven't heard much personally about if anything's been offered... but I'm sure I'll know more about it in the next few weeks,” he added.

“It's hard to think about leaving because I've been there for so long. If I can get in the team at Palace, that's the main thing.

“But I need to play football at Palace, and I wasn't last year because I ended up going on loan.”
