Alan Pardew says Crystal Palace must control as much of the game as possible if they are to overcome Arsenal on Saturday.

Palace head into this weekend’s match having won five of their eight matches since Pardew took charge of the club.

However Arsenal have won seven of their past nine, and Pardew says his side must find a way to have control over the opposition.

“I think the key to beating Arsenal is to be impatient at times and controlling some of the game,” said Pardew.

“They are in great form. Arsenal can give you a real problem because they are very good in possession and have tremendous pace in the team.

“You need to get the balance right on how to approach them.

He added: “We are in decent form and we are trying to improve our home form. We need a process to find away to win and that is what we are trying to work towards.”

Palace go into this weekend on the back of a FA Cup fifth round exit having lost to 2-1 at home to Liverpool last week.

They were outplayed by a much stronger side in the second half, and Pardew admitted they must find a way to play against the strengths of Arsenal.

“Sometimes we have to accept that the opposition are more powerful so therefore we have to try and alleviate that power and that’s what we will try and do,” he said.

Meanwhile Marouane Chamakh is expected to start against his former club and Pardew feels the forward has rediscovered himself at Palace.

“He is growing in confidence. It is difficult to get a run at a club like Arsenal with so many great players,” said Pardew.

“Sometimes it is best to move away and find yourself and he has done that here.”
