Crystal Palace will be without Joel Ward for up to four weeks after the defender picked up an injury in training.
The full back, who already has two Premier League goals to his name this season, will now sit out Manchester City’s visit to Selhurst Park on Saturday.
Ward is also likely to miss the trips to Tottenham Hotspur (September 19) and Watford (September 26), as well as the Capital One Cup clash with Charlton Athletic on September 22.
Boss Alan Pardew revealed the defender’s absence at this afternoon’s press conference, where he also confirmed that Marouane Chamakh remains sidelined.
There was better news for Mile Jedinak, who took part in his first training session since injuring his hamstring in the Capital One Cup win over Shrewsbury – in the mean time, Damien Delaney has been wearing the armband.
