Alan Pardew has urged his Crystal Palace team to kick on after their productive start to the season and ensure their home form matches their exemplary away record.

The Eagles have enjoyed a superb spell since Pardew was appointed manager at the start of the year, winning 18 of their 30 league games.

Palace’s form away from home has been particularly impressive, with the south London club recording 28 points on the road out of a possible 36 under Pardew.

The only downside under Pardew’s regime has been the club’s somewhat inconsistent form at home, which has been unable to reach the heights of their record away from Selhurst Park.

But Pardew is keen to redress this trend and hopes Palace can take advantage of their start, which has left the club in 7th position going into the clash against West Brom.

“It’s a good return, we find ourselves on 12 points with a game at home,” Pardew said.

“We’re going to try to exploit that – we haven’t always done that.

“It’s a big game for us and a chance to find ourselves in a very nice position if we win it.

“Last year, the criticism of us at home was fair, although in the second half of the season we had tough games and we’ve still had that.

“At some point they do get easier, don’t they? This year, we’ve had Arsenal and Man City at home – tough games.

“Aston Villa we won but we have got to make sure we win against the teams in and around us.

“That’s a criticism of us and something we need to address.”

The Eagles will welcome West Brom to Selhurst Park on Saturday having bounced back to winning ways at Watford last weekend.

Yohan Cabaye slotted home the decisive penalty at Vicarage Road, and Pardew praised the efficient performance of his side.

“From a manager’s perspective it was a great day for me and my team,” the 54-year-old added.

“I was really pleased, it wasn’t our greatest performance but a really good, professional performance and as the manager of the team that makes me happy.

“We respected the front two at Watford greatly but our centre-halves, Scott Dann and Brede Hangeland, and Joe Ledley did a super job.

“They gave us the platform to break into wide areas and there was some very good wide play today.

“That won us the game.”
