Emmanuel Adebayor revealed he is finally getting back to full fitness after assisting Crystal Palace’s equaliser against Arsenal on Sunday.

Palace went a goal behind through Alexis Sanchez just before half-time, but Yannick Bolasie’s 81st minute strike saw the Eagles move nine points clear of the relegation zone.

Former Arsenal striker Adebayor was booed throughout his 26-minute appearance at the Emirates, but admitted he had to forget about any “haters” as he helped Palace come back from behind.

“I just want to play football, this is me,” said Adebayor.

“I'm getting back to fitness now, it has been quite a hard one and since July I was without a club, but I'm at Crystal Palace now so I've giving my best and enjoying myself as I always do.

“For me, at the end of the day I have to be happy about where I came from and what I have become today – I have to forget about all the haters.

“All the Arsenal fans boo me and when I look back I understand where everything went wrong but there are certain things in life you cannot come back to any more, you just look at it and say 'okay I made a mistake'.

“You can see when I was on the bench and warming up and they were booing me I was just laughing.

“It is more than a pleasure coming back to this beautiful stadium and I really enjoyed myself and playing a part in our goal is even better.”

Adebayor admitted Palace had been under heavy pressure during the first-half against the Gunners, but felt his side remained strong throughout the game.

The 32-year-old believes confidence is beginning to grow amongst the squad as they aim to gather momentum ahead of Sunday’s FA Cup semi-final against Watford.

“Maybe the confidence is a little low but we are starting to build up our confidence and we played better in the second-half,” he added.

“In the first-half the possession was probably something like 97-3, but we came back and we have been strong.

“Bolasie scored a fantastic goal and it is great that we can take one point from this big club and from a player from Crystal Palace it is a good and it is positive.”
