Mile Jedinak was full of praise for Crystal Palace and their fans after their 1-0 defeat to West Brom on Saturday amid reports he is set to depart the club.

The Australia international started in central midfield alongside Jason Puncheon, but speculation he is set to join Championship side Aston Villa remains rife.

Jedinak was coy on his future after the Premier League opening defeat, but reaffirmed he is content at Crystal Palace.

“Absolutely,” responded Jedinak, when asked if he is happy at Palace. “I’ve mentioned that many times.

“It was nice to get out today, play in front of such local fans. Every time you walk off that pitch and you haven’t won the game you feel like you’ve let them down a little bit.

“But we know they’ll stick by everybody and they’ll be singing next week and the week after.

“That’s what the club is going to need, as they have the whole time I’ve been here, going forward.”

Jedinak could be one of two players set to depart Selhurst Park in the upcoming days, with Yannick Bolasie reportedly close to sealing a switch to Everton.

But the 32-year-old is more focused on players coming into the club.

“The clubs needs some players in, there’s no two ways about it,” Jedinak added. “Let’s see what happens. It’s not up to us to decide. “When they come in, or if they come in, remains to be seen but we keep battling away.”

Palace have yet to bring in a striker this transfer window, which remains top of their priority list, but Jedinak believes the club have players capable of stepping up should they fail to sign anyone.

“We’ve got some players that are improving, young Keshi [Anderson] waiting in the wings and Freddie [Ladapo] as well, it gives players opportunities,” he added.

“It doesn’t mean they’re going to get a chance but they are still in the thoughts of everyone here.

“Until those new faces come in you’ll have to continue with what you’ve got.”
