Crystal Palace’s latest attempt to sign striker Christian Benteke has failed after Liverpool reportedly rejected a new £30m bid.

The offer on the table is £23m up front, plus £7m in add-ons, bringing it in line with the Reds’ valuation.

However, the Daily Telegraph is reporting that Liverpool do not consider the clauses as realistic, and turned it down.

Liverpool have said that the Eagles, who had a £25m bid turned down last week, must return to the table with an offer including different terms.

Benteke was signed from Aston Villa by Brendan Rodgers last summer and scored nine goals in 19 appearances.

However, the 25-year-old Belgian international has fallen out of favour with new manager Jurgen Klopp and is odds on with the bookies for a move away from Anfield.

Palace boss Alan Pardew has need a centre forward, highlighted in last weekend’s 1-0 defeat at home to West Brom, and could use some of the £25m earned from the sale of Yannick Bolasie to Everton earlier this week.
