Sutton United boss Paul Doswell will give Dammy Shitta his debut this weekend if the Skrill South visit of Weston-super-Mare gets the go-ahead.

The 18-year-old holding midfielder, on loan at Gander Green Lane from Championship side Millwall, will get his chance as Doswell shifts his team to accommodate defender Simon Downer’s suspension.

United have not played since the 2-2 draw at Gosport Borough on February 4, and have not played at home since Boxing Day, and Doswell is not convinced this weekend’s match will go ahead.

“There is more rain expected today [Friday] and the levels are so high already, I cannot see it happening,” he said.

“But, if it does, then Dammy will get his debut. He has impressed us in training, and I feel the time is right.

“With Simon suspended, Rhys [Weston] will drop back into the centre of defence and Dammy will go into midfield.”

He added: “Our only fitness issue is Louis John who has picked up a thigh strain.

“He is someone else who has impressed in training, and at 21, it shows the strength we have in youth.”

Meanwhile, 33-year-old Weston has extended his loan from AFC Wimbledon for another month.
