Ks defender Alan Inns has described Rob Tolfrey’s Bognor meltdown as completely out of character.

The 27-year-old keeper climbed in to the crowd to tussle with away fans after Monday night’s 2-1 Ryman Premier League defeat to Bognor Regis Town put the skids under his side’s play-off push.

Video footage from Fox in the Box Productions hit the internet at the final whistle and had attracted more than 3,000 views by Tuesday morning.

The club has launched an investigation – in conjunction with Bognor Regis Town – into the events that saw police called to Kingsmeadow.

Inns, who ran from the bench to be one of the peacemakers on the night, admitted video evidence did not look good for the former Whyteleafe hero.

And he revealed Tolfrey, Ks’ number one since 2009, cut a distraught figure in the dressing room after the game.

“Rob is not that way inclined,” he said, a view echoed by former Ks assistant manager Mark Hams.

“He was pretty upset at the end of it all.

“The video is half the story, Rob is upset it does not show events leading up to him jumping into the crowd.

“It was totally out of character. The Bognor players knew the guy, so it is not as if it was some random.

“I don’t know what was said, but getting a barracking is part and parcel of the game and you have to let it wash over you.

“Luckily enough we play at a ground where there is CCTV 24 hours a day, so hopefully the full picture will come out.”

Ks would have moved into the top five had they beaten Bognor on Monday and they took a first half lead through Callum Webb.

But the visitors hit back through Doug Tuck and Ollie Pearce to claim the three points.

Inns admitted Ks were way off their best, despite taking the lead, and even a half-time dressing down from boss Tommy Williams could not spur them in to action.

But he was confident the play-offs remained in reach.

“This was our chance to put down a marker and get in to the play-off places and we let ourselves down,” he added.

“The manager gave us a talking to at half time because we never really got going and Bognor fully deserved the three points.”

He added: “We still believe there is a play-off place up for grabs.

“Our run-in is not as difficult – on paper – as some other teams, so it is all to play for.”
