Hampton & Richmond Borough boss Alan Dowson has not ruled out moving for Brentford keeper Mark Smith – if he can get hold of him, writes Stuart Amos.

The 19-year-old, who impressed on loan at the Beveree this season, was told he had no future at Griffin Park this week and is searching for a new club.

Dowson, who signed former AFC Wiimbledon keeper Seb Brown on a month-long loan from Conference South Bromley last week, has tired to contact Smith but without success.

“I’m very surprised Brentford let him go,” he said.

“Of course, I’d love to have him back, but he hasn’t answered my calls .

“I’m sure there are other pro clubs interested.”

Brown made his debut in Saturday’s 1-0 defeat at East Thurrock United and was helpless to prevent a last-minute equaliser in Tuesday’s 1-1 draw with Bognor Regis Town at the Beveree.

“I could write a book on the number of times the ball has gone into our box and the opposition have scored this season,” he said, who re-signed Moussa Diarra on loan from Hemel Hempstead Town last week.

“I think we have conceded a late goal in each of our last four or five games. We just switch off.

"We've conceded far too many goals this season."

He added: "I'm delighted to have signed Mouss because with him and Kieran Murphy at the back we should be alright. They won promotion to the Conference South not so long ago.

"We are not out of trouble yet. We need one or two wins and won at the weekend would be massive."

Hampton host fellow strugglers AFC Hornchurch tomorrow after which Dowson hosts a sporting memorabilia auction and fundraiser to launch the club’s new community projects.

Tickets are £25 and include a hot Indian buffet.
