Walton Casuals manager anthony Gale will be hoping a major overhaul of his back four will solve his side’s defensive problems.
The Stags, who will play home games at Merstham this season while the Wateside stadium is redeveloped, conceded a whopping 94 goals last season as they flirted with Ryman Division One South relegation under Mark Hams before being led to safety by Liam Collins.
Gale added former Watford academy youngster Rhys Paul, 21, to his squad to go alongside fellow new defenders Peter Wedgeworth and Luke Olley.
Captain and centre back Quincy Rowe has committed to another campaign at the club as has last term’s eventual first choice goalkeeper Tom Wellham.
Casuals, who lost their first nine games last season, kick off their campaign with the visit of Ramsgate to the Moatside stadium.
They ended their pre-season campaign with a 3-1 win at Chertsey Town thanks to goals from veteran midfielder Collins, Gabriel Odunaike and Dan Newman.
