Kingstonian winger Dan Bennett showed why boss Tommy Williams signed him as his hat-trick inspired Ks to their biggest league win in six years on Saturday.

Further goals from Peter Dean, Pelayo Pico Gomez, Jake Kempton and Ty Smith secured a 7-0 Ryman Premier League win over previously unbeaten Met Police at Kingsmeadow.

It was the first time since a 6-0 Ryman Division One South triumph over Crowborough Athletic in 2009, that Ks have scored more than five goals in a league encounter.

Ks have lacked a creative livewire ever since the departure of fans’ favourite Dean Lodge to Dulwich Hamlet and Williams believes he has finally found his man in former Farnborough renegade Bennett.

“He is a very creative wide player. He makes things happen and he can chip in with goals,” said the manager.

“That is something we have not had for a long time.

“He was probably our best player in the defeat to Leatherhead and he took that form into Saturday.

“He was the difference.”

Williams expects his team to get stronger ahead of this weekend’s trip to Wingate & Finchley with Max Hustwick, Rob Tolfrey and Ricky Sappleton set to return to the matchday squad.

“Football can change very quickly and we know it is a very long road ahead, so our feet are firmly on the ground,” added the manager.

“We have three big players to bring back in. We have a bit of strength in depth, which is what you need in a small squad like ours.”
