Skipper Alan Inns has admitted winger Dan Bennett has the ability to ignite Kingstonian, but he may test Tommy Williams’ man management skills in the process.

The former Farnborough man provided the cross for Daniel Sweeney to net what proved to be the winner in Sunday’s 2-1 triumph over Canvey Island at Kingsmeadow.

Bennett has five goals to his name this term since Williams persuaded him to sign for the club in the summer.

“His touch in training and on match day is one of the best in our squad,” said Inns, who played alongside Bennett at Farnborough before his switch to Ks.

“If his attitude is spot on he can be one of the best players in the league.

“He is a massive part of this squad and appears to be enjoying his football with us.

“If we keep him on form and enjoying himself, he can be a major player for us.”

Ks head to Southern League Premier Division strugglers Dunstable Town in the FA Cup second qualifying round on Saturday, with question marks over the fitness of their three-pronged attack.

Pelayo Pico Gomez made a surprise return to the Ks starting line-up on Sunday to score his side’s opening goal, but is battling a groin problem.

Ricky Sappleton is still to feature after limping out of last week’s FA Cup draw with Farnborough and Jake Kempton is also struggling with a knock.

Despite the concerns, Inns insists the players are out to put some more money in the Kingsmeadow coffers when they battle in Bedfordshire for £4,500 in prize money.

“When you have a small squad you need a bit of luck with injuries and you need the players who come in, to hit the ground running,” he added.

“The players are very aware we need to get a bit of money back in to the club.

“We have had them watched and we know we have a great opportunity to progress on Saturday and hopefully we can get the result we need.

“You do not get many bites at the cherry to get into the first round proper as a player and we know the club and the fans are desperate for a cup run.”
