Swans keeper unsure what future holds

Delroy Preddie reveals he has yet to make up his mind whether to return to Walton & Hersham for the coming season.

The experienced goalkeeper was in impressive form for the last campaign as the Swans just missed out on a Ryman Division One South play-off spot.

But Preddie admits football is the furthest thing from his mind at the present time.

He said: “For the first time since I started playing football I have been on holiday in the summer.

“I have just come back and I will be going away for another week next week.

“There are a lot of personal things that I need to deal with and to be honest my only focus at the moment is sorting things out and spending time with my family.

“I did speak briefly with John Crumplin at the end of the season and explained the situation, but that is as far as it has gone at present.”

The veteran keeper was a calming influence at the back for Walton last season and was a constant as Crumplin chopped and changed the squad for much of the campaign.

And the 34-year-old says Stompond Lane will be his first port of call if he does elect to continue.

Preddie added: “When I get back I will have a good sit down and think things through.

“I want to keep on playing and top of my list will be to phone John and see where we go from there.

“I know I can still do a job for a side.

“I have been training with goalkeeping coaches at Maidenhead and I have been keeping myself fit so there is no issue there.

“If I get back to playing for Walton & Hersham I will be happy with that, but my first responsibility is obviously my family.”
