Kingstonian boss Alan Dowson swooped for AFC Wimbledon bad boy frontman Stephen Goddard after striker Carl Gibbs quit Kingsmeadow for Leatherhead last week.

The 21-year-old, who has scored 12 goals in 11 starts for the Dons, completed an initial month-long loan switch on Thursday after failing to secure a regular first team slot under Terry Brown.

He moved to Kingsmeadow as on-loan QPR defender Aaron Goode headed back to Shepherds Bush, while former Woking midfielder Liam Cockerill has been released.

Goddard once received a one-month suspension for refusing to leave the field after being sent off in a reserve team game, but Dowson is not concerned with his disciplinary record.

"Goddard has come back to fitness and is a powerful young man," said Dowson.

"I don't think his discipline will be a problem. If it is, we'll sort it out.

"I am a bit disappointed Carl has gone, but he has been guaranteed first team football at Leatherhead.

"These things happen in football and I have to say good luck to him.

"Aaron has done really well for us and while I would have liked to have extended the deal, there is a new management team in place at QPR, so his return is understandable."

Korean winger David Shin is also on his way after being forced to return home to the Far East, despite Dowson's best efforts to keep him in the country.

"We did our best to help David on and off the pitch as he's had a tough time," added the Ks boss.

"He is devastated. I hope he has some better luck in the future and wish him well."

Dowson has revealed he has made a seven-day approach for midfielder cover for Jason Turley, who is expected to return from injury this weekend.
