Mitcham boxer Lee Cannon has warned Queensbury Boxing League (QBL) regional champion Anthony Ayinde that his first title defence will turn out to be a nightmare rather than a dream.

Cannon collides with the Kingston-based champion at the opening show of the QBL’s 2016 season in a clash that the Mitcham man has fancied for some time.

And after watching Ayinde perform live in his past couple of victories, Cannon his confident he will be shooting down Ayinde and making it an early night's work for himself in the show's main event.

Cannon was last in action in September when he produced a conclusive finish to his clash with late stand-in Andy Cosnett, finishing the veteran in the second round of the contest, and after securing his shot at Ayinde, Cannon believes he has seen too many mistakes in the champion's game for him to lose.

"This is going to be an interesting fight on Saturday against Ayinde, but if he fights like he did against Danny Stalford then I'll put him to sleep early," said the challenger.

"I've watched a few of Ayinde's fights and he looks like he's grown in confidence and skills since his second win over Kane Baker, but I know he's not fought anyone like me before and he'll know that when we meet next month.

"I'm not going to give away too much right now about how I plan to take his title, but he's going to struggle with my movement and hand speed which I know will give him problems, so I can't wait to get in that ring and face him."

Cannon's challenge for the QBL regional welterweight title takes place on Saturday at the Millennium Copthorne Effingham Park Hotel.
