Carshalton boxer Danny Cassius Connor is hoping a night out in Tolworth at the weekend can lead to bigger and better things.

The 30-year-old claimed the super lightweight International Challenge strap with a hard fought points success over Czech fighter Daniel Bazo at Tolworth Recreation Centre on Saturday.

Connor went into the fight on the back of four straight wins – including one over Ricky Boylan at London’s O2 Arena – and is already back in the gym looking to extend that run. “It was a tough fight that one, but that’s boxing,” said Connor.

“The problems people may have seen with the performance were of my own doing, but I feel as though I won every round and handled what he threw at me.

“If the contest was at a lighter weight, which I’m more accustomed to, then things would have been different, more smooth for me.

“I’m already back in the gym and will fight anyone really, more so if there’s a title involved.

“That includes my good mate Tommy Martin, or possibly a look at Sean Dodd as well, but we’ll just have to see what happens.”

Comfortable: Adam Barker won all four rounds of his fight with Lukas Leskovic

Carshalton super welterwight Adam Barker eased through his debut with a points success for the former Small Holdings amateur club captain over visiting Lukas Leskovic.

Roehampton-based super welterweight Jamie Carley had a tougher day at the office, narrowly edging what was arguably the fight of the night, by a point, in a 39-38 contest against Ali Wyatt.

Carley suffered a cut above his right eye early in the contest, but used his reach advantage to keep his opponent at bay.

“I’m proud of how I boxed as he certainly came to win and to put on a show, which we did,” added the 29-year-old, who also fights for Morden-based Small Holdings.

“I just had to keep myself calm and composed.”
